Nastiya Kai is the up-and-coming alt pop star making waves in the music industry. She released her latest single ‘I’d Do Anything’ alongside a whimsical music video via her own imprint Nastiya Kai Music on 2 August. ‘I’d Do Anything’ comes hot off the heels of her debut album Demon Era which was released on 31 May, and premiered on NOCTIS Mag with support from Metal Magazine. Her single ‘Bury Me’ which was released in October 2023 also received support from NOTION Magazine, CLASH Magazine, Wonderland Magazine and EARMILK.
Although Nastiya emerged onto the scene in 2023, she has created a noteworthy space for herself. A self-taught artist, Nastiya started playing piano and writing songs at ten-years-old. Fans of avant-pop sensations Billie Eilish, Grimes and VÉRITÉ will love Nastiya.
‘I’d Do Anything’ is driven by fantasy, and sees Nastiya imagining what it would be like to make it to the top. Her storytelling ability stands out in the single as she wears her heart on her sleeve throughout. Nastiya’s sharp vocals twirl over the soft, rhythmic synths and soothing beat with fluid precision. The accompanying video depicts Nastiya entering an opulent pink mansion that isn’t hers, furtively looking through it and touching or trying on what lies inside it. The video is a confessional, offering a glimpse of the life that Nastiya fantasises about, with imperfections lurking beneath the luxury.
Nastiya divulged: “I’d Do Anything” is a fantasy. This is me thinking about what it would be like when you make it to the top. Would it make one happier? Does your life actually change or does it become emptier the higher you climb? I wanted it to sound quite soft and gentle so it feels like the narrator is walking on eggshells and unsure whether they belong or whether they’re doing anything right at all.”
