Downtempo duo Kinobe share spectacular ‘Out Of The Blue’ album

Kinobe have made their return with another masterpiece titled Out Of The Blue. This is their fifth studio album, which was released on 9 August 2024 via the SGKL imprint. This also follows the release of their spellbinding single ‘Lucky Stars’, which received radio support from NPR Music, KEXP, and SBS Chill. The album was birthed at Kinobe HQ, a magnificent beach house in Western Australia overlooking the Indian Ocean, and mastered by the legendary Frank Arkwright (Blur, New Order, Coldplay, Oasis) at Abbey Road.

Born in the UK, and now based in Perth, Australia, Kinobe was established in 1998 in west London by childhood friends Julius Waters and Mark “Blackie” Blackburn. Boasting over 50 million streams on Spotify alone, Kinobe has previously earned praise from tastemakers CLASH Mag and Mixmag to name a few.

In Out of The Blue, the duo morph their signature sound to a delightful limit that’s tinged with a psychedelic spirit. The focus track, ‘It’s Only A Dream’, begins with sweeping cinematic strings before kicking off with a groove so breezy it could have the listener levitating into the clouds. Those whimsical strings, a sweet surfy guitar and slinking minimal synth bass take the listener on a surreal journey occasionally punctuated by smooth vocal lines, imparting snippets of psychedelic wisdom with the fine motif: “But remember cowboy, it’s only a dream.” The focus track captures the lush buoyancy of the entire album perfectly – listeners are in for a treat; an Alice In Wonderland-esque journey to the glorious warmth of the sixties and beyond.

Kinobe shared: “I’ve always been fascinated by where ideas and inspiration come from. This album is an expression of how when you clear your mind it can open a door to somewhere else.
