Alva Noto remixes Vincenzo Ramaglia’s ‘La parole 1’

Playing in the left field, experimental producer Alva Noto has remixed the work of the multitalented composer Vincenzo Ramaglia, namely his previously released record ‘La parole 1’, which features vocals by the talented French singer Laure Le Prunenec. Tinkering with her voice, he has taken it apart and reformed it into a mechanical instrument of his own design, which, whether intentional or not, he has played in a way that expresses the challenge of uttering one’s feelings.

Beyond comprehension, the heavily-effected vocal fights to articulate a thought, grasping for the right word but never quite finding it. It turns each one over, contemplating its syllabic shape, only to set it aside, half-spoken. Dissatisfied, it resigns itself to a more primal form of communication.

Furthermore, ‘La parole 1 (Alva Noto Remix)’, released under PEM Records, hangs suspended in mid-air, drifting in the breeze. Like sand in the desert, particles of white noise gust against migrating percussions and lively clicks that crawl along the soundscape, burrowing beneath earthen textures, where they find shelter from the unrelenting force of marching percussions.
