From July 24 to 27, Château Perché celebrates its 10th edition within the awe-inspiring Château de Farcheville, a medieval castle that’s not just a venue but a star of the show. This four-day event draws 6,900 attendees and over 400 international artists, weaving modern music and art into a historic monument that’s been a silent witness to centuries of history. The theme, “Once upon a time there was a graphic fantasy utopia,” sparks daily dress codes—like “Pyjamas in the Sky with Diamonds” or “Haute Couture Kinky Tales”—that turn the castle’s courtyards and turrets into a playground of self-expression. The decor is a marvel, with every hallway and garden adorned with installations that nod to the past while embracing the future—think tapestries reimagined as light projections or sculptures rising from the lawns. What began as a niche gathering a decade ago has evolved into a full-blown cultural phenomenon, where history isn’t just preserved—it’s remixed into something entirely new.

The music spans continents and eras, with genres like dreamy downtempo, melodic techno, UK garage, amapiano, house, psytrance, and live bands filling four daytime and seven nighttime stages. Le Mirador de l’Amor offers a perch for soaking in both beats and views, Le Jardin à la Française blends aristocratic charm with pulsing rhythms, and Le Colombier transforms a dovecote into a late-night dance haven. Picture a DJ set echoing through a vaulted chamber or a band playing as shadows dance on weathered stone—it’s a sensory overload rooted in the castle’s bones. The Exploration Village invites you to get hands-on with workshops like historical crafts or sound experiments, while La Cour d’honneur dazzles with audiovisual performances and offers quiet zones framed by ancient arches. Every element is tied to the venue, making the music feel like it’s part of the castle’s ongoing story.

Sustainability keeps this historic celebration grounded, with a vegetarian menu that’s both a culinary win and an environmental choice—think hearty dishes made from local produce. Reusable dishware and cups are standard, and shuttles from eight cities ensure the journey here doesn’t clog the countryside with cars. The festival’s values—Respect, Ecology, Safety, and Awakening—shine through in details like the moral commitment form required with tickets, which binds attendees to a shared code of conduct, and the eco-conscious design of the decor, often crafted from upcycled materials. Press can explore this fusion of old and new via guided tours, walking the same paths as medieval lords while seeing how Château Perché honors its roots with modern flair. It’s a festival that doesn’t just borrow the castle—it breathes new life into it, creating a legacy that’s as enduring as the walls themselves.
