Racines have released their debut single ‘Market Miracolo, offering the first glimpse of their album ‘Arilos Mennar‘, out June 5 on Locomotiv Records. The electronic duo started in 2022 when Rokeya and Anissa met and combined their backgrounds in a shared project. Rokeya, based in London and of Indo-Italian-Welsh heritage, is a producer, performer, selector and curator. Her site-specific installations for Ableton and L-Acoustics appear alongside releases on Timpan Records, Lump, Kosa, La Tempesta, Mamboz, Beached Records, Kirmana Records and Volubilian Records. Anissa, an Italian-Algerian singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, draws from tradition and has worked with Moni Ovadia and Max Gazzè in music, theatre and original soundtracks. Both artists, shaped by multiple cultures, create music that feels ancestral, powerful and earthy.

Market Miracolo‘ plunges listeners into a trance-tribal ritual from the opening note, its percussion ticking like a heartbeat that refuses to slow. Taha Ennouri and Ali Belazi conjure a ceremonial hand-percussion groove, each earthy strike building in intensity, weaving subtle shifts and polyrhythms until the rhythm seems to tug you along. The pulse begins close and grounded, ritualistic in its intimacy, then steadily ignites, each drum layer fanning the flames and driving the track toward an explosive crescendo.

Racines had this to say: “At the heart of the narrative is the symbol of the market: a living, pulsating space made of cultures, languages and encounters“.
