British outfit Hælos dropped their third single ‘Boy / Girl’ on Valentine’s day in preparation for the release of their sophomore album Any Random Kindness, set for 10 May. As they wrap up their European shows, Hælos prepares for their upcoming North American tour, coming to a start at the SXSW (South by Southwest) in Austin, Texas in the first week of March.

Boy / Girl’ proves to be the most intriguing of the tracks released thus far with an obscure glitchy backbeat meant to represent the disconnect between the two characters by whom the story of the song is told. The story evidently about the decaying of relationships under the weight of technology and the digital age.

Explaining the message, the band noted that it is “A conversation between a boy and a girl filled with all the feelings of sadness and frustration at their inability to connect.” The only thing keeping these two characters connected are both ghostly vocal performances embroidered together with dark psychedelic adornments.
