In Conversation with UK Wave Artist ‘Visene’

Visene is a 19 year old bass producer from South-east England in the sub genre known as ‘Wave‘. The upcoming artist is entering the world of music in early years and has already prooven to be comprehensive, accurate and thoughtful as a producer.

We came acroos his ‘Aamu KuuAAA‘ flip featuring Beau and decided to contact him for an exclusive interview about his, and our passion:

To those not familiar with you, how would you describe your sound?
To me, I feel like some weird child birthed by Grime & Trance, with primarily 140bpm beats, heavy reese bass’ and trap drums over happy and euphoric trance-like melodies.

Which three albums have influenced you the most creatively?
Throughout my time of producing I have always been influenced by Blank Body’s more early melodic stuff. Lots of reverb, heavy reese bass’ and creative melody structures, whats not to love?

Burial – Untrue: Absolutely no words needed. This is art in its most expressive form, if you haven’t heard this already i strongly recommend it to anyone.

MssingNo – M1 Personal Trainer: Pure beauty, this is where I come to think.

Take us through your songwriting process. Are there any particular steps you take when putting music together?
Coffee, smoke & a tidy work-space. I can’t go into FL Studio and think ‘this is what I’m making today’ it doesn’t work like that for me. My most creative moments are during events ie. spending the day out and being inspired by happy vibes, which of course, leads to happy music. This is also the case for sad, more emotional type pieces. I am proud to say that i really express my feelings through sound and i hope other people can feel that too.

Studio work and music creation or performing and interacting with a live audience, which do you prefer?
Personally, I’m a very chilled out person, i thoroughly enjoy studio work and music creation for the therapeutic side of things, where i am in my best state of thinking.

Any new artists on your radar?
Pholo
Beau
Outsidr

All ones to watch out for in 2018 and coming years.

What has been your most memorable performance so far?
I am yet to perform live, but i am very to excited to make memorable performances! Starting with Liquid Ritual’s ‘Hooks’ show on the 13th of July.
This is located at Birthdays, Dalston, which seems to be becoming a regular hub for the Liquid Ritual shows.

If you could collaborate with, or perform alongside any artist, who would it be? And why?
I’ve been to a fair few events in my time but the ones that stand out to me the most are the Kasabian shows. They really know how to fuel a crowd and they strongly inspire me to do the same. There is nothing I want more than my fans to feel the feelings they give through music. Even if it’s to 50 people, its all progress, lets spread the vibes!

Tell us about any upcoming shows or releases you have in the pipeline.
I am very excited to announce i’ll be playing at Liquid Ritual’s show at Birthdays, London on July 13th b2b w/Pholo alongside Vacant, Myst, Kareful, Deadcrow, Stohou & Outsidr.

Famous last words….
“I’ll finish it later”
If you know me personally you’ll already know that i just do my thing. Meeting deadlines and general timekeeping is not something I’ve always been good at, and it it will most likely be the death of me, but do what you like and stay happy, its a stress free life!

It can be indeed! I like that spirit. Thank you so much for taking your time to conduct this interview with us. We very much appreciate your willingness to collaborate. Good luck with your show at Birthdays. We look forward to hearing your upcoming releases and hope to hear from you again soon!
