Interview with emerging Italian producer Savnko

Milan-based Italian music producer Savnko has begun loving music at the age of 14. At 17 he left his home country, flying to London and improving his knowledge and music culture while working in a coffee shop during both years of his stay.

During these two years in London, he discovered a new music world that he had time to elaborate on in the following years back in Italy. His new debut album “Epic Arguments” is a summary of atmospheres, bright, and dark vibes experienced in the UK that he tried to recreate with his own style.

All the tunes in the album remind him of some moments spent in London where he also discovered his love for synths and sampling.

See our exclusive interview with him below:

Tell us about yourself. How did you get into music?

I’ve always been interested in music, since when I was a child. I used to stay up all night improving my producer skills day by day. At 17 when I moved to London I discovered a completely new music world which led me to a totally unknown way to see and feel electronic music.

When you compose and produce tracks, do you make music for yourself or do you make it with others in mind?

Usually, when I switch on my setup, I have something like an idea in my mind,  nothing really clear. It could be a drum groove, a sample, a synth lead…
Has your arsenal of equipment changed much since you first started?
I’m now using more analogue machines than before.
I started just with a pair of headphones and a laptop.

Three favorite tracks of all time?

Shell of light – Burial
00009 a.1 – SND
Don’t mean a thing – Lapalux

What inspires you outside of music?

Everything, life experiences, movies

Do you consider the Internet and social media as fundamental in building a career in music today, and what is your personal relationship with the new technology at hand?

Today is definitely fundamental to use the internet in general, and even If I don’t really like social networks you have to deal with it when you want to let people discover you and your music.

What can we expect from you in the near future? Any upcoming projects or releases in the pipeline that you would like to tell us about?

I’m now releasing my debut LP  “Epic Arguments” in march via Pitch the Noise Records that is an independent electronic music label with really interesting projects on the way. “Epic Arguments” is a summary of atmospheres, bright, and dark vibes experienced in the UK that I’ve tried to recreate with my own style.
