Finland-based English musician, record producer, and singer-songwriter Jasper Sommer has unveiled his new single, ‘We Could Rule The World’ on the 20 October 2023 via EFG Records Oy. With his music drawing comparisons to the likes of Four Tet and James Blake, he is carving a place for himself in the industry. He has already received mainstream publication support from COMPLEX UK and Earmilk, with ‘We Could Rule The World’ receiving early support from notable tastemaker NOTION.
‘We Could Rule The World’ is a dark and brooding track. Produced by the artist himself, it features unpredictable metallic breakbeat drums, pulsing ambient synth soundscapes and heavy basslines. Jasper Sommer’s somber lyrics weave in and out of the soundscape as they explore themes of loneliness and the pursuit of what is right. ‘We Could Rule The World’ is a composition that dives into the darkest depths of the human psyche.
Jasper Sommer had this to say about the track: “This song is about suffering with depression and the feeling of loneliness. Whilst at times we may feel like nothing is worth it and ending it all, contemplating the idea that we’re all one piece to a unified whole, brings peace and the ability to conquer the world inside our minds. With the goal of overcoming depression once and for all”.
