Having recently signed to Ninja Tune, Jordan Rakei has followed his recent Majestic Casual session with the official release of an acoustic version of his current single ‘Sorceress’ which has been described as “underlining his stature as a truly exhilarating soul voice, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist in total command of his sonic vision.”
Born in New Zealand and currently based in London, Rakei has played Pitchfork Avant-Garde Block Party, Annie Mac Presents, supported Jamie Woon and NAO, collaborated with Disclosure, Taku, FKJ, Tom Misch, Loyle Carner, Dave Okumu and Richard Spaven. He also released an EP of Dancefloor-focused tracks via Rhythm Section in 2016 under the moniker Dan Kye.
Of the track he says: “It’s about how the ego can fully control the way you act and perceive life.”
