Picture warm summer nights as you lay on the beachfront with your lover and think about all the adventures that you are still going to have in the weeks to come. The perfect soundtrack to soak up these feelings of adventure and bliss would definitely be At 1980’s new album Late Night Calls. Released via NewRetroWave, this album is packed with nostalgia but still maintains modern aspects like the work of Electric Youth and The Midnight.

The album was released with a live video for the track ‘California Nights’, which was  performed at Brighton Electric Studios. Featuring members Adrian Quesada Michelena and Josh Dally, something about the pink fluorescent lighting on the gents has me thinking of the ‘80s. I suppose this was quite a prominent colour choice amongst other neon colours that have dominated retro fashion and trends.

The lads have expressed that creating this album has been a personal experience as they express suppressed emotions about lost connections and small victories that took place in the last few months. Although the ‘80s are far behind us, we are obsessed with this retro-infused album that hooks us with its emotionally rich lyrical work of expression.
