Rock guitarist turned synthwave music producer The Toxic Avenger has honed his craft in the past decade, securing collaborations with electronic music royalty like Skrillex, Chromeo, OrelSan and Look Mum no Computer through time. A few albums and EP’s later the producer has returned to the studio and shared his EP Shifted via Enchanté Records today.

Introducing the world of the EP with the track ‘Sorcery’, this first impression feels like it is summoning otherworldly forces with its Stranger Things-Esque intro, but nonetheless, we are enthralled by the world of the EP already. Moving onto the next track ‘Goodbye’ featuring vocalist Sophie Tith and lyrics like “the night is falling on the city / I see the world so differently now” add to the ominous mood of the EP. Ultimately leading one to create their own narrative of a night wanderer looking for a spaceship landing. As you go down the tracklist, you are bound to decode that this EP is speaking about abduction of some sort.

Inspired by 80’s soundtracks and all things synthwave, we had no doubts that The Toxic Avenger would dive into sci-fi themes with this latest offering. This EP commands attention from each synth progressions and of course, the weird ominous energy would make any alien conspiracy theorist melt within seconds.
