Synth pop trio City Mall share dreamy debut EP Lobby Songs

Brazilian band City Mall unveiled their debut EP Lobby Songs on 6 November via the Cavaca Records imprint. The trio consists of vocalist Mariana Stein, as well as Pedro Spadoni and Matheus Del Claro who are both composers, producers and instrumentalists. Their hypnotising lead single ‘Windy’ was featured on the Deezer playlist Indie Brasil, and introduced the band’s magical interpretation of “elevator music” to the world.

City Mall’s take on synth pop and jazz is mesmerising, soothing and heartfelt, with pristine production and Mariana’s silken voice radiating tranquility and warmth. Their 5-track EP triumphantly lays the foundation for a promising and flourishing career.

The EP evokes feelings of nostalgia, while still remaining relatable and contemporary, a feat that’s not easily accomplished by many artists. Lobby Songs feels like a heartening embrace, as it brilliantly interweaves wispy, dreamy textures together ideal for relaxation and contemplation.

Pedro shares; “it’s an EP you can listen to for concentration or during moments of relaxation, but I believe it will eventually lead you to reflect. We play with the idea of waiting music, but they’re not just ethereal songs. There’s movement in the compositions and melodies, and I think there are some calls for reflection, points that add a lot of dynamism to Lobby Songs.”
