The Toxic Avenger has given Saint Mars’ ‘Last Dream Ever Made’ a synthwave makeover. ‘The Toxic Avenger Remixes’ will come as a mini-album, featuring ‘The Last Dream Ever Made (The Toxic Avenger Remix)’ and ‘The Last Dream Ever Made (The Toxic Avenger Triple Meter Remix).’
The Toxic Avenger (so named after the cult classic movie) has a slew of notable collaborations in his wake, and was the subject of a French documentary SuperHero 2.0. He has toured alongside Skrillex, and has racked up 60 million plays across platforms with support from Ultra Music and NewRetroWave Youtube channels.
Saint Mars, headed up by prodigy Tryzdin, are renowned for their strong anti-bullying message. The band is Marc Darcange, Angelo Bruschini (Massive Attack guitarist) as well as guest appearances from Britt Warner (October’s Child) and Jethro “Alonestar” Sheeran, rap star from Bristol and Ed Sheeran’s cousin.
The Toxic Avenger does a great job adding synthwave flair to the track, proving that a dive into new territory can have massive payoffs. The remix is energetic and hypnotic at the same time, – washed with bold vocals which flow and transition through a breadth of textures.
Speaking of the remixes, The Toxic Avenger tells us: “I don’t often do a double remix so I guess ‘The last dream ever made’ was really inspiring. I worked on the 2 remixes as if it was a two-part song, almost a mini odyssey. I always love doing remixes of pop songs more than strictly electronic music. They give me way more room to shape my own sound with the big help of the original song!”
